Solid State Drives
Some VAIO models offer Solid State Drive (SSD) technology instead of or in addition to normal hard disc storage.
Having no spin up time, and no mechanical parts, data retrieval and storage is near-instantaneous making work,
and browsing, faster and more enjoyable. With no moving parts, SSD
devices can withstand day-to-day knocks, making them less prone to
failure.
SSD devices use memory chips rather than a spinning
hard disc to store data. Unlike other memory chips, they retain data
when powered down.
Battery Life
Every VAIO includes battery utility software to extend its lifetime and to deliver the best performance increasing time between charges, and reducing the need to replace the batteries.
Exclusive to VAIO is dynamic switching of graphics cards without the need to reboot.
On the VAIO Z series, you can flick between the standard Intel card for
day to day use, and the high-performance NVIDIA card when you need
something dramatic.

Everywair 3G
Some VAIO models are equipped with built-in 3G technology, VAIO
"Everywair", a WWAN (Wireless Wide Area Network) card which can bring
you uninterrupted mobile broadband at up to speeds of 7.2Mbps.
Access e-mails and the internet anywhere at anytime without the need for
a wi-fi hotspot. Stay connected and in touch with colleagues, clients
and friends wherever you are through Everywair.
Fingerprint Recognition

On some VAIO models, an in-built fingerprint scanner allows you to
secure data, launch applications or simply lock/unlock computer access via unique biometric data.
Scanners
will defeat keystroke loggers, or attempts to capture Windows passwords
thus adding extra layers of security to your VAIO.
Never type website passwords again - swipe your finger and VAIO
automatically fills the username/password from your fingerprint
database.
Touchpad panel
VAIO's touchpad delivers advanced functionality through
innovation. Put your finger on the panel's right edge and you can scroll
in any direction through any application. Using the top edge you can
flick though your browser as if flipping through a book.
The pad is highly configurable, allowing you to assign functions and controlling many of its actions and behaviours.
Robust Body
Today's business executives expect a lot from their laptops,
and demand unbroken performance. That's why Sony labs do in-depth
research and push the VAIO through grueling user tests. We call it
business-grade durability; you’ll just know it as peace of mind.
Windows® 7
All VAIO notebooks integrate the new Windows® 7 operating system.
Windows® 7 is designed to make PCs start up, shut down, resume from standby and respond faster,
while enhanced power-management increases battery life. With Windows® 7
Professional or Ultimate, you’ll be able to run programs designed for
Windows® XP (may require additional free download).
