At Brother we feel that it is our duty to do whatever we can to protect and preserve our environment.
For this reason we have worked towards, and achieved, ISO 14001 accreditation. We are continually striving for excellence in saving energy – week in, week out. Take a look at some of our recent energy-efficient activities. July 2010 Brother Industries UK wins best sustainable business award The Arup Award for Sustainable Manufacturing, sponsored by the worldwide engineering group, seeks to recognise good environmental practice in terms
of recycling, control of emissions and use of resources and energy. But it's also looking
for more: for evidence that sustainability is at the core of everything the company does and that the company is itself a sustainable organisation. Award details here June 2010 Microscope – Environmental Company of the Year 2010 for Brother UK
Microscope ACES entrants have to meet a stringent set of criteria that really tested our commitment to reducing our environmental impacts. Thankfully, Brother has been proactive about green issues across the business, including energy saving strategies which focus on waste, emissions, pollution, promotion of lower energy products and education and training.
We're even more pleased to win this award as it was voted for by our customers and partners, and if you supported us in the run up to the awards, thanks very much. http://www.microscopeacesawards.co.uk May 2010 Brother Earth

Brother's 8000 and 5300 mono laser printer ranges (totaling 12 models) have now been granted
Nordic Swan environmental approval.
The Nordic Swan standard covers the products' entire lifecycle, from raw material to waste -
and draws many parallels with the Blue Angel and Energy Star eco-labels.
The Swan eco-label recognises that our printers and multifunction machines are high performance
and built to be recycled. Swan-labelled equipment has strict requirements on power usage, product
lifespan, emissions, eco-functionality and recycling. The label also means that the machine is built
so they will be easy to recover, repair and upgrade. There are around 65 different groups of products
which have the Swan label, making it the world's leading eco-label. http://www.nordic-ecolabel.org March 2010 Brother No. 1 Ethical Brand For The Fifth Year In A Row!
Brother are proud to announce that we've been awarded a 100/100 rating for our environmental,
animal welfare and human rights' credentials in a leading independent audit. We are the only company
in our sector to do so. We recorded an excellent score in every category, as measured by the UK's
Ethical Company Organisation - publishers of The Good Shopping Guide.
This is the fourth year in a row that we have secured a score of 100/100 and the fifth year running that
we have been number one in the marketplace. The award demonstrates how we are leading in the
printing solutions industry with rival manufacturers all scoring less in the report. http://www.ethical-company-organisation.org/
