Multi million universities contract awarded to XMA
September 28, 2011
Universities and colleges across the UK will be supplied by Nottingham-based IT specialist XMA, after it scooped a multi million pound contract to provide computer consumables and electronic office supplies.
XMA will be responsible for providing access to thousands of commonly purchased office products such as media, ink and toner to hundreds of UK higher and further education institutions.
The win was awarded by the London Universities Purchasing Consortium (LUPC) on behalf of the National Working Party for Computer Supplies and Stationery (NWPCSS) and is worth up to £15million per year.
This contract, which is expected to run for 4 years, was awarded to XMA following a competitive tender, in recognition of XMA’s proven track record in providing cost effective IT solutions to the education sector.
Andy Davies, Director, LUPC said: “LUPC is pleased to announce that XMA has once again been awarded the Computer Consumables (Lot 2) under the National Office Supplies Agreement.
“LUPC recognises the exceptional standard of service plus significant and sustainable cost-savings XMA can offer to the public sector. The major challenge is to reduce costs while also improving the quality of supplies for our member institutions and we’re delighted to be working in conjunction with XMA to achieve that mission.”
Institutions that are members of five of the major purchasing consortia will use XMA service from this month as well as other members of the Wider Public Sector. The participating Educational consortia are :
London Universities Purchasing Consortium (LUPC)
Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium (SUPC)
Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges (APUC)
North East Universities Purchasing Consortium (NUEPG)
Higher Education Purchasing Consortium, Wales (HEPCW)
The LUPC’s appointment of XMA is part of its mission to use consortium buying power to spearhead savings across the sector. This contract is the most recent awarded by LUPC to XMA, which has been an agreed IT supplier for over 15 years.
