Working together we can develop
an innovative and creative IT
infrastructure that supports
the goals and ambitions of
Infrastructure & Managed Print
Infrastructure & Managed print
- Langley Academy
An innovative IT infrastructure in place and running
successfully from day one and ready in time for
pupils to use on the first day of term.
As part of a complete ICT solution in the Academy’s
new building we provided a reliable infrastructure
that enables the Academy’s teachers and learners to
be creative and innovative in the way that ICT is used
in the classroom.
The Cisco infrastructure provides fast connections across
the new campus, both wired and wirelessly, providing total
flexibility for users in how they can access ICT. The Hewlett Packard storage solution provides the capacity for learners
to store large multimedia files and documents to enhance
their work across the curriculum.
The managed print solution uses high speed, high capacity
printers to provide users with quality print facilities, whilst
reducing waste and the cost per page of printing. This also
means the Academy needs less printers around the building.
Wireles Mobility Solutions
Wireless Mobility Solution
- Djanogly City Academy
Innovation taught in every lesson at Djanogly City Academy.
As well as providing the Academy with
a highly robust central infrastructure,
Djanogly were keen to use the latest
mobile laptop technology to support student
learning and teaching throughout the new
building. They were also able to implement
a model where 1:1 laptop access was
available to all of their users.
Djanogly were also keen to move away from
a model where the Whiteboard at the front
of the room reinforced the old model that
the teacher knows best. The wireless
projector enables the teacher to move
around the class, sharing control of the
teaching wall with the students.
"Working with our partners Toshiba and XMA has enabled us to create the most state of-the-art teaching environment in the country. Everyday, we have visitors from all over the UK who come to learn about what we’ve established, and I hope many other schools will benefit from our experience."
Sanjesh Sharma, Deputy Principal - Djanogly City Academy
Virtual Learning Environment
- Writhlington School
A complete new building and ICT solution developed
from a teaching and learning standpoint instead
of a technical perspective to ensure fulfilling
pupil potential is at the heart of the solution.
Writhlington School had already invested in a VLE
which provided the school with eLearning tools, they
also had their own video library that teachers could use
in lessons. What it didn’t do was all work together as
one system, users had to log in to the different parts.
As part of our ICT implementation we provided them
with a new Learning Platform based on Microsoft
SharePoint that integrated the VLE with the other
new services that we provided, including Library
and Cashless Catering. Now users only need to log
on once to use a range of tools. We carried out
bespoke customisation to ensure the look and feel
remains the same as the previous VLE to help with
the transition into the new building.
"Our solution is working very well now. Basically, we
have got amazing IT and other schools are keen to see
what we are doing. We are about to open a sixth form
centre and have again chosen XMA to deliver every
aspect of IT – which I think speaks for itself"
Chris Hobbs, business manager –
Writhlington Business Enterprise School
Innovative iPad Deployment
Innovative iPad Deployment
- Wallace High School
The School were keen to improve
productivity in the classroom using the
latest Apple iPad. As well as providing
the school’s 530 pupils with access to
iPad’s to record lessons, take notes and
complete interactive exercises, we have
put in place a professional training
programme for all teaching staff, to
ensure that the students get the most
from the technology and that it
We provide ongoing technical and
curriculum support for the users and we
have spent time working with the School
to ensure that the iPad’s are integrated
into the School’s network.
Private Cloud Deployment
- States of Guernsey Schools
We provide a Managed Service to the 24 schools across the
island of Guernsey, this is based on a ‘private cloud’ solution
that is hosted in the authority’s data centre and provides a
fully managed Citrix thin client solution to all 7,000 learners.
This central service provides learners with access to curriculum
applications and files from anywhere on the island, whether in school
or from home. The Citrix environment enables legacy desktops and
laptops to last for longer as all the processing is carried out in the
data centre, whilst providing fast access to the latest software as
if the service was local to the other.
